چکیده

Objective: to record the frequency of isolating organisms causing early-onset neonatal sepsis resistant common antibiotics, Methodology: This research was a cross-sectional study that conducted in 2017 and 2018 at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi on 180 children who satisfied following criteria were delivered between 34 40 weeks gestation either Spontaneous Vertex Delivery or Cesarean Section. The infants born gestation. Those newborns had congenital defects, surgical intervention, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, been treated with antibiotics not included research. Every infant three millilitres its blood collected stored sterile environment. placed into Bactec 9240 culture bottles direct inoculation. After being transported BBH children's hospital pathology lab, injection Bactee continuous monitoring system. temperature inside incubator 37 degrees Celsius. use catalase, coagulase, Dnase examination Gram-positive bacteria carried out. Using Kirby-Bauer method, isolated organism put through battery tests determine whether it ampicillin, amikacin, tobramycin, cefotaxime, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, meropenem, sulbactam, vancomycin. Meuller Hinton Agar medium employed. Results: In our study, out 140 cases, 65.71%(n=92) 1-48 hours 34.29%(n=48) 49-72 hours, mean+sd calculated as 35.96+16.65 47.86%(n=67) male 52.14%(n=73) females. Frequency shows 27.86%(n=39) S.Aureus, 22.14%(n=31) E.Coli, 15%(n=21) Staphylococcus epidermidis, 12.86%(n=18) Klebseila others. Practical Implication: determination bacterial resistance pathogens cause would help appropriate effective management population Conclusion: Our results reveal S.Aureus E.Coli showing 27.86% 22.14% 15%, 12.86% others isolates. EOS cases followed by epidermidis whereas Ampicillin, Cefotaxime, Ceftriaxon, Ceftazidime are also these cases. Keywords: Early onset sepsis, pathogens, antimicrobial
